Gender Inequality is still an Issue
Why feminism shouldn’t be viewed as something unnecessary, because it is still needed.

Many people argue that feminism is a movement that should have ended after women gained the right to vote in 1918. However, what people refuse to acknowledge is feminism reaches further than what lies within our laws. Gender inequality is not as recognized as it should be because it is ingrained in our society, we have grown up around this inequality and have become numb to it.3000.jpg
Gender Inequality is an issue found worldwide, more often in developing countries than developed countries such as Canada. If you believe that feminism is just a man-hating group of women with no real motivation for global movement, then maybe these statistics will change your mind;
  • Women make 77% of what Men make annually for the same occupation
    • If you think that’s bad though, African-American women only make 64%, and Hispanic women only make 56%
  • 80% of human trafficking victims are women
  • Every year, 15 million girls under the age of 18 are married without their consent
  • FGM (Female Genital Mutilation) affects over 125 million girls worldwide
  • Over 1000 honour killings happen annually in India
  • Globally, women aged 15-44 are more at risk from rape and domestic violence than cancer, car accidents, war, or malaria.
  • On average, for every 500 companies, women only hold 5% of CEO positions
To summarize, women go through discrimination that those who are privileged refuse to acknowledge. Women don’t want to be better than men, they want equal opportunities to jobs and education. Women are more prone to violence from the opposite sex than vice versa, and that’s another thing that feminism fights for. The feminist movement inspires women to do greater, and  to fight for their rights as humans.
