Healthy Living - Food Bank

Written by: Gavin, Justin, Steven, Mike, and Tim

A couple of days ago we helped another group carry food over to the local food bank. While this doesn't directly relate to our goal, it's important that awareness is raised about what happened.

Another group went around on Halloween and instead of asking for candy they asked for non-perishables from the community. These were all bagged and brought over to the food bank.

Walking into the building itself you can already feel how somber everything is. No one shopping there wanted to be there and immediately tried to get as far away from us as they could. The shelves were stocked for the most part, but pasta and kd was most prominent while things like canned fruit were severely lacking.

The people that use the bank are everywhere, chances are that you're friends with someone that uses it on a regular basis. It isn't anything to be ashamed of, but sadly there is a stigma.

Regardless of what you believe in or who you are, it should always be important to give back to the community and care for those around you.
